Educational content has to be instrumental
Understanding what’s instrumentalization is the first step in changing “normal” content to educational. Then, we just have to adjust it to our audience and make it rich in terms of educational value.
At the end of the day, people will consume your content to meet their needs. Unlike high school or a university, in which students are forced to follow a path, in educational context for adults, they choose that.
Therefore, it is not only important the content of the text, but also the form in which it is presented. This will be much more relevant when you enter the topic of course promotion, mainly focused on instructional designers.
Instrumentalization is to write content that provides instruction, that is, what the person should do.
You can, yes, write content that tells the story of the origin or that has a large theoretical arsenal in the middle, but make that clear. Give the person the option to skip that content if optional. This can be done with formatting, our next module.
