How Do I Create A Learning Object? Where can I use it?

Great question. Well, that depends on the object, of course. A video can be created in the traditional way: writing script (or not), recording it and editing it. A presentation can be created using PowerPoint, Google Drive or Canva. An audio file can be recorded even using any cell phone. And so it goes.

However, interactive elements adapted for the digital will require specific tools, even more so when the focus is on education. For that, we have the authoring tools. These are specific software for creating education and instructional resources like the ones you’ve seen here in this course so far. Some teaching platforms (LMS) already offer some simple tools for creating Learning Objects. I will leave a list of authoring tools in the next lesson.

So it’s always important to check: what are the possible creative features on the platform I’ve chosen? Most LMS will allow features such as text, video, image, and downloadable files (such as PDF). Few have interactive features like the ones we will present here. Or even exercises in addition to multiple choice exercises. Pay attention to that.
